Dead Sexy

It’s Springoween (or Summerween?), that time of year that some of us begin the countdown to Halloween. We are already halfway there people! Where did the time go? I ask my kids this exact question everyday, but I digress. If we can have Christmas in July, then I vote for Halloween in April! Yes???

Alright, well I know I’m not the only one. On April 25th, Home Depot, once the unlikeliest of places to shop for holiday decor and now one of the best, released a limited number of Halloween items including the perennial favorite, Skelly. I’ve heard people put this date in their calendars and set alarm clocks in anticipation of the event known as Halfway to Halloween with an excitement level of #CodeOrange. In this case, the saying “you snooze, you lose” is a reality. If you didn’t plan ahead, you will have to wait until the next tranche drops. Last year it happened on July 13th (squeak!). Let’s take a look at what’s new from Home Depot for 2024.

Originally launched in 2020, it has been updated for 2024. With eight new settings for its LCD eyes, the new version of 12-foot-tall Skelly has the ability to toggle through personalities faster than the guy from Split.

Since Skelly was feeling a bit awkward surrounded by absolute ghouls, they gave him a dog! Skelly Dog is 5-feet-tall, 7-feet-long and also has LCD eyes. A skeleton needs his best friend!

Not only does this 12 1/2-foot-tall version of Skelly have LCD eyes and six inches on the original, his chest and face light up via a motion sensor too.

It’s alive?! No, but you wouldn’t be faulted for thinking so. With animated eyes and arms, LED lighting and sound effects, this 7-foot-tall monster comes in at a more human scale than his creepy cohorts. Aarrrg!
